Cynthia brings an extensive knowledge of travel, customer service, and communication skills to TravelPhile Tours. As the child of a U.S. Air Force officer attached to various embassies and treaty organizations, Cynthia had the good fortune to experience much of the world by the time she graduated from high school in the Republic of the Philippines. She was also lucky that her parents taught her the value of taking advantage of every opportunity to experience the people, history and culture of each new place her family lived! She continued on to college in Munich, Germany and Rome, Italy before graduating with a B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina. She completed her M.A. in American History while working for the University of Maryland’s Far East Division as a field administrator and adjunct history professor in the Republic of China and Zama, Japan. Along the way, she gained limited proficiency in French, Italian and Mandarin Chinese. Upon return to the United States, she began a twenty year career in advertising and experiential marketing where she sold and project managed corporate meetings and events for Fortune 500 companies. She founded her own small company producing events and meetings for clients including IBM, American Express and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. She continued as a part-time adjunct history professor at various universities and as an on-line part-time history professor for Colorado Technical University where she taught Twentieth Century American Culture in Transition. She lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband Larry Fick and a Brussels Griffen dog and is the proud mother of one daughter Erica Fick and her son, Solon and daughter Rio and her husband Michael who live in Wimberley and Erica works in the Austin area.
